i don't think LOTR ever made people as crazy for films as Star Wars have. You have people getting married as Star Wars characters for god sakes. I've never had a film change my life like star wars and that is why it is the best ever

I'm so going to have to go with you on this one..I mean there are like big conventions and stuff...Lord of the rings just has like cards or something.
Plus there are those people who say like 'Oh I went and saw this one 5 times in theatre' hehe its too funny!

that is for the people who read the lotr trilogy. if u hadn't read the book u wouldn't hav anything to compare alongwith the novie. in the original star wars u could start off at any place and still get the story line. one year i missed seeing the lotr: Two Towers and a year later i went to see Return of the King. and i got so thrown off it wasn't even funny. plus u got to compare the time the original star wars started in wut the 80's and lotr just started like 6-8 years ago

I'd love to debate you on this cuz... well, just kicking your butt in an argument would make my face glow. But... I got nuthin. ;-) LOTR was fantastic but Star Wars!! It did go far and above even Lucas' expectations. He was so nervous about Star Wars not doing as well as Close Encounters because, after he walked on the set and saw how good the film was going to be, he offered Spielberg an exchange in points. Spielberg is still making money off that today. That says it all right there.
