Text message invites to special advance movie screenings

Just want to state that there is way too many movies screenings at Harkins Tempe Marketplace which a bit far for me. I'm aware there are some screenings in the Northeast area but most of the screening seems to be at Harkins Tempe Marketplace . Anybody else think so ? Is this normal ?

I don't care about the cost of gas.Just the traveling & sometimes the traffic.Kind of like Tempe Marketplace. It just a bit far. I went there one time for a movie screening & I got there too early.
I can't believe folks are "complaining" about theatre location, gas, and driving. Last time I checked noone MADE anyone join this site.
The owners have brought something really GREAT to the folks of Phoenix and all "some" can do is find a "negative". GO KICK ROCKS FOLKS!
I don't mind the location, or standing in line. I DO mind getting in and finding 50-60% of the seats roped off (or in the case of Star Trek and Wolverine, 80-90%). What's the use of even bothering to get in line for 5 hours just to get stuck in crappy seats, or for those of us with eye issues, seats where there is no way you will be able watch the movie (the lower section)? I have Iritis and dyspraxia. When I am on the meds, the affected eye is unable to focus and is fully dilated for up to a week. Add the dyspraxia (with its related balance issues (read in motion sickness)). Therefore the lower seats are impossible for me to sit in. I arranged with a friend to have him be in line at 2:30 for Wolverine, and I was in line at 4:00 for Star Trek in order to get seats from which I could view the movies. I have asked the ushers for assistance, but they have refused to do anything (except for Wolverine- where they were able to get me usable seats in the 2nd theater they opened). I do appreciate the free movies and Dan Harkins for providing the locations, but I don't appreciate standing in line 5 hours for no good reason. I have considered reminding them of the ADA laws that apply, but didn't want to start a confrontation and risk ruining the free movie experience for all.

So coyote, sometimes it just isn't a matter of just "getting in or not", sometimes special needs have to be met. How do we handle that?
Usually, the roped off section are for critics mostly (they get few empty seats near them) & a few vip winners of a contest. If you have a disability card that might help in getting a decent seat. Everyone takes a risk in waiting for hours to hopefully being able to get any seat.It is after all first come /first serve. Everyone knows they might not get in but they try anyways. It's all in the their timing & luck.I wear a hearing aid & sitting in back doesn't help me.Everyones wants the back .I don't care for the back anyways.Sometimes when i'm near the front I sometimes have trouble hearing if volume is alittle low.Anyways,Good Luck in getting a decent seat.See you at the movies.
Hes right, the movies are free, the studios and the theater run then, they dont have to let anyone see them ever.

Though now the first come first serve is kinda BS, one person gets there way early, and 10 people join them in line is pretty lame in my opinion. David said last night something like one person who you have their ticket with you should be able to get in, but not more than that.
There is a formula used when selecting locations. I won't attempt to fully explain it, but it draws from demographics and the genre of the film. I think we are lucky to have so many screenings during this time. It's not just a free movie, but it's free movies first. Isn't that worth a little extra driving?
YES!!! ;-)
I would love to attend the pre-screening of Watchmen.
I wish they had more at Superstition Harkins. But hey sometimes going somewhere new can be fun might find something diffrent and exciting that you like!
Yes I agree. I think it has to do with the belief that students attend more movies. That may have been so years ago before movies became sooo expensive. It use to be a cheap date. Not any more. In addition, the west and noth side of town is almost completely ignored. It use to be Harkins Fashion Square now it is Tempe Marketplace. The issue for me is not gas or distance, i'm going to go, but it would be nice to spread it around a little more. I like Tempe Marketplace, however, I don't go there to shop on weekends because I am out there so much for movies, during the week, with no opportunity to shop then, and it is much too crowded on weekends. So only the movie snacks or an occassional meal is all I ever spend there.
