Text message invites to special advance movie screenings

What are some of your favorite movies of 2010 (so far)?

Well we are past the halfway point on the calendar and I was just curious as to what has been everyone's favorite movies that they have seen so far for 2010? I know it has been an even weaker year for movies than last year but I have found some stars and a couple of hidden gems amongst the heaping of sh*t that have come out this year.

  • Best Movie- My obvious pick for best movie (so far) is Inception. Was it a dream or was it partial reality is the question?  A movie you definitely have to watch a few viewings.  My minor flaw/trend that I am seeing in Christopher Nolan's movies are the weak casting in the lead actresses. Maggie Gyllenhaal as Jeff Bridges girlfriend in Crazy Heart ok I can see that since the guy is sh*tfaced all the time and has beer goggles on. Maggie in TDK as Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent fight over her that is really really really stretching it (for me anyways).  Which brings me to Marion Cotillard in Inception which she is Leo's wife in the movie. Everytime she came on I just kept staring at her mole on her forehead. Couldn't they put makeup over it or a band-aid? Please it is very distracting, it just kept getting bigger and bigger throughout the movie.  Plus the kids do not look like her at all.

  • Best Animated Movie- Another obvious pick for me is Toy Story 3. Can't give enough praises for Pixar. Most underrated character nobody probably remembers is Chuckles the Clown.  Never thought I would find a creepier doll than Chucky well here it is the dirty baby doll with the lazy eye.

  • Best Foreign Movie- The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. One of my biggest pet peeve is people who are lazy and do not want to read subtitles in a movie, maybe books too. When you tell someone that the movie has subtitles that is when you lose them in a conversation completely. I am betting 60-70% of Americans will not watch a foreign movie due to subtitles. Well this is a truly great mystery type of film to see. Still have the horrific image of Lisbeth hooking up with the old fat guy Mikael (that scene came out in total left field). Well if you are too lazy to watch this movie because of the subtitles guess what? They are making an American version next year. Yah! You lazy f*cks!
  • Honorable mention: Mother. What lengths a mother would go to and try to prove her son is innocent of murder.

Yes I definltey agree with you on all three subjects. Inception just blew my mind....hands down the best movie so far this year. Its funny how Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in one of my favorite movies as a kid which was Angels In the Outfield, and now he is in one of my favorite movies as a young adult...Inception.
Might have to watch Angels in the Outfield again, did not remember him in it since it was so long ago. Just remember that he has put together a string of good movies with the Lookout, Brick, and (500) Days of Summer (will delete G.I. Blows from my memory and give him the benefit of the doubt). Hope the rumors are true that he may play the Riddler in the next Batman movie and this movie may have sealed the deal.
I heard about that. Im trusting Nolan. Im sure whoever he decides to pick as the riddler would be a good choice. JGL would be awesome, yes we will give him a pass with G.I. Joe because Channing Tatum was in it. That guy is the worst. Im certain that we could act better than him if it came down to it.
Best Movie: i would agree is Inception.

Best Animated: As much as I liked Toy Story 3, for this I would have to say Despicable Me.
Will have to get back with you on Despicable Me, have yet to check it out but that is what everyone is raving about also. Don't forget How to Train A Dragon should get some consideration as well.
Despicable Me is darn near the cutest movie I've ever seen.

Best: Inception
Finally saw Despicable Me based upon the recommendations and it is a "cute" movie as you would say but wish they would tell us how Uncle Fester got the lil' Twinkies. Where did the lil' Twinkies come from anyways? Who is the old fart and how did Uncle Fester assemble his lil' crew? Those would be my questions that are eating at me every second of every minute as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out the unanswered questions.
This is a good question. One that will now drive me insane, thank you, j24. Grrr.... :) I'm a massive TN Vols fan so I did quite enjoy the fact that vector had orange V's everywhere and orange and white was well represented. GO VOLS! hehe....
That would be a perfect storyline for the sequel to this movie. You would be Vector's secret mistress that wasn't mentioned in the first movie. Somehow find a way to get Vector out of the moon (some kind of plan with the cookie bots and his dad's money from the bank to get a spaceship). While you have Lane Kiffin in the shark tank surviving for his life.
ROCKY TOP!!!!!!
Thank you for that, Alex and I like where you're going, J24, with LAME Kiffin in the shark tank. Yeah... wouldn't mind seeing that. Bet we could make a killing selling tix to that show. lol
For me it's gotta be Letters to Juliet, I loved it.
