Haywire’s Mallory Kane (Gina Carano) is like Jason Bourne with breasts, which makes the film interesting to watch but not enough to add it to the must list.
Director Steven Soderbergh, known for action pictures such as all of the Ocean’s films, Out of Sight and Traffic, knows where to draw your line of vision and keeps your eyes directed there, hoping to keep your ears from noticing that what few lines Carano actually has, are spoken with all of the experience you’d expect an MMA fighter to have... being that thespian is clearly not her first career choice. Actually, her voice was dubbed which is rather distracting.
The story is pretty straight edge and while watching, you will soon realize you’re being led down a path that ends with Soderbergh using you to see if he can get a female action series out of this. Based on how it wraps, I'm positive this is what is happening. Well, I say absolutely not. Carano is gorgeous but not interesting enough to invest this kind of time in.
Not to say you won’t enjoy the film; the action is hot and the cast is quite good.
Michael Fassbender looks fantastic, even while getting “beat up by a girl”, which was my favorite scene in the movie, and Bill Paxton, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum and Michael Douglas are appealing in this particular backdrop. Their scenes are few but they do bring a necessary balance.
The female kicking butt to the degree with what she is, is inspiring and entertaining but you can only suspend disbelief for so long before you find yourself wondering what they were thinking and where the door is.

Comment by Jason on January 20, 2012 at 2:34pm Why In the world would they dub her voice anyway??
Comment by Dave Lathrop on January 20, 2012 at 2:33pm The only way this movie could have been any worse is if they had gotten "Froggy" from the Little Rascals to dub in Carano's voice...
